Join us for our first of six Facebook Live events as part of Flatland’s new Facebook Live series, “Depth of Field.” Local filmmaker Morgan Cooper moderates a 45-minute conversation with creative Kansas Citians who are making an impact locally. The event is free, but an RSVP is required.

This first discussion brings together marketing strategist Ashli Harris and Strange Music video producer Kerry Rounds.

Before and after the Facebook Live at 5:30 , enjoy appetizers and a complimentary beer or glass of wine.

These Facebook Live discussions, filmed at the Plexpod Westport Commons, are open to the public and will delve into artistic achievements in and around Kansas City. Cooper will analyze the impact of national conversations on Kansas City, celebrate the talent found within the city we think we know and certainly love, and shed light on the local creative scene.

Join us for appitizers, a complimentary beer or glass of wine and plenty of conversation before and after you watch the Facebook Live, which begins at 5:30.

CANCELED: Diabetes in KC Town Hall Screening and Panel Discussion @ Plexpod Westport Commons | Medallion Theater | Kansas City | Missouri | United States

The safety of our staff and our community is our top priority. In order to minimize the spread of COVID-19 we have reviewed our upcoming events schedule and in light of the recent ban, by the Mayor’s office, on large-scale events in Kansas City, we have decided to cancel Diabetes in KC Town Hall scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, at 6 p.m.

Our intention is to continue to serve our audiences and partners with minimal disruption. Please continue to watch kcpt.org/events, our social media channels and our email communications for additional updates.

Millions of us live with a silent killer. It’s called diabetes. It claims more lives than cancer and HIV combined. It’s now predicted that one in three children born since 2000 will develop the disease. Blood Sugar Rising puts human faces to these statistics, exploring the history and science of the illness.

Be the first to watch extended excerpts from this timely and comprehensive film, coming to KCPT this April. The documentary reveals new hopes, from the rise of safer and easier medical treatments to new discoveries about lifestyle and environmental factors. Blood Sugar Rising also reports on those taking action to improve diabetes management and prevention.

Immediately following the screening, KCPT’s Nick Haines explores the impact of diabetes in Kansas City with experts on the frontlines of tackling this chronic health condition.

This program is a partnership between KCPT and Health Forward Foundation.
