Istation Lunch and Learn – Reacting Logically: A “Game” Plan @ KCPT Public Television

Presenting an RTI (Response to Intervention) game plan with targeted strategies and proven approaches, this workshop will show the ways that data and reporting help students achieve academic success.

Strategies covered include:

  • Identifying a problem.
  • Analyzing the “why.”
  • Addressing needs.
  • Reflecting and evaluating impact.

Participants will receive data charts, a resource folder, sample lesson plans, and support materials for Tiers 1, 2, and 3.

Dr. Karen Ingram

Dr. Karen Ingram has worked in education for 36 years. Over 30 of those years were spent in The Dallas Independent School District.  She has taught Kindergarten to college level students in English and Spanish and provided instructional coaching and training for adults.  Committed to education, she founded and developed programs for Head Start, adolescent academic and social growth, and adult literacy. Presently Dr. Ingram works for Istation as a National Educational Consultant.

Known for their unmistakable vocal harmonies in popular classics “Help Me Rhonda,” “I Get Around,” “Barbara Ann,” “Surfin’ USA,” “California Girls” and “Good Vibrations,” The Beach boys are among the most enduring symbols of the rock ‘n’ roll era. The Beach Boys consistently rank at the top among critics’ picks of the greatest artists of all time, and the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

For this one-night performance, The Beach Boys will be led by founding Beach Boy Mike Love and Beach Boy-vet Bruce Johnston, who along with Jeffrey Foskett, Brian Eichenburger, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten continue the legacy of the iconic American band. This tour will not feature Brian Wilson, Al Jardine or David Marks.

November’s film is Chasing Trane: The John Coltrane Documentary. Set against the social, political and cultural landscape of the times, Chasing Trane brings saxophone great John Coltrane to life, as a man and an artist. The film is the definitive look at the boundary-shattering musician whose influence continues to this day.

See a special free screening of the film on Friday, November 3rd at 6pm at the Gem Theater.

‘Be My Neighbor Day’ is a daylong celebration for families, supported by PNC Grow Up Great®, featuring tiger-tastic activities that focus on being a caring neighbor to people and wildlife! Join Daniel Tiger of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood for hands-on learning activities, performances by StoneLion Puppet Theatre and more. Bring a canned good or a sweater to share with someone in need.

Attendees will receive a passport encouraging them to participate in activities including making wildflower seed balls for neighbors, creating leaf rubbing cards to distribute through KC for Refugees, making kindness rocks with Kids for Vets, and puppet making as part of PNC Grow Up Great, as well as activities led by Initiative PB & J and Science City at Union Station.  

The day’s schedule of activities includes the Discovery Center’s Nature Nuts Storytelling (9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m.), music from Mr. Stinky Feet (10:30 a.m.), Let’s Read with Literacy KC (11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.) and a performance of the “The Little Red Hen’s Garden” by the Stone Lion Puppet Theatre (2 p.m.).
